This summer I had the joy and honor to partake in a staged reading of “Global Warming: The Musical” written by my fellow Yale Conservatory for Actor’s (no worries, more info on this later!) pal, Foster Swartz!
Foster is a rising junior at Vanderbilt University and started writing “Global Warming” this last semester. Upon arriving to our conservatory this summer, he so kindly found that we would all be interested in doing a staged reading of it during out 5 weeks at Yale – which was SO. MUCH. FUN! Now the musical heads off with Foster back to Vanderbilt where it will be performed this Fall.
This show offers a little something for everyone as it is somewhat a parody of your classic 1960s teen beach movie, mixed with tackling the current environmental issues we face today. As Foster likes to put it, his current goal in life is to save the planet and everyone on it through the power of amateur theatre!
In this video, you will find a little rendition and selection from “Down by the Seashore” sung by Foster and I, who played Chris and Casey respectively in the staged reading. If you like what you see in the video and want to help Foster out, or buy tickets to the upcoming shows this fall, please check out his website for “Global Warming: The Musical”!
